Background
- 5.2 hectare residential development site
- Outline planning permission for up to 110 dwellings
Challenges
- 11kV and 33kV overhead electricity lines crossing the site and constraining development
- Third party landowner involvement to the south
- Existing wayleave agreements
- £250k worth of costs involved if lines diverted
Solution
- Termination of existing wayleave agreements on all the apparatus present
- Easement widths negotiated to go around the site boundary
- Agreement made for terminal H pole to be placed on third party land.
Result
- Agreement reached for DNO to pay all the costs of the diversion works.
- DNO granted a new easement over the new underground cables.
