Relocation of Telecommunications Equipment
BTS expedited the removal of telecommunications equipment from the rooftop of a building to an alternative location for a redevelopment.
We engaged early on with the telecommunications operator, met with their contractor on site, and established the new requirements for the alternative site location. We then project managed the process from the initial site survey, planning and legal, through to the site decommission and development works.
Background
- Existing building to be demolished
- Telecommunications equipment on existing rooftop
- Equipment needed to be relocated at a time that would align with the new development timelines
Challenges
- Current site had to be demolished within six months of purchase
- Operator timelines needed to work with redevelopment timescales
- Implications of the Electronic Communications Code (the ‘Code’) 2017
- Design plans for proposed new development
- Options for equipment relocation impacted by Network Rail line close to the site boundary
- The need to comply with ICNERP guidelines and the potential impact of other surrounding buildings
Solution
- The operator had to work closely with development plans
- A temporary solution was found for an on-site relocation
- Project management between Developer, Operator and Contractor
- Advice was provided regarding Lease renewal
Result
- Permanent telecommunication equipment was successfully built alongside the new development
